Public to have a say in Luxembourg’s choice for Eurovision 2024

When in the middle of the final week of Eurovision 2023, it was announced that Luxembourg will be making their comeback next year, that news made great waves and sparked joy among the many Eurovision fans worldwide! When they announced they would be choosing local talent through a national final, the euphoria was even greater!

Now we get to know more about details about this national final. Amongst other things, Head of Eurovision at RTL, Dave Gloesener announces that the public will have a say in who the country will be sending to Eurovision next year!

Providing a lot of insight, Gloesener shares:

The decision to organise a national selection was a no-brainer, we’ve been away for a long time, and it is essential that we bring Luxembourg to Eurovision in the right way. The public will have their say in who we send to Eurovision next year. The event […] will also be an opportunity for us to demonstrate what we can do in terms of a live show on television.

Then Gloesener goes on to explain that, not only will the show be broadcast live on television, but also livestreamed on their websites, giving them the opportunity to have live commentary on the national final in three different languages!

In any case, he can hardly contain his excitement, as he lets the world know: ”We are in the midst of planning everything. It’s exciting, extremely motivating, but there is also a lot of pressure.”

Eric Lehmann, Eurovision coordinator at RTL also comments on the upcoming comeback and says that their participation ”will benefit everyone involved: artists, composers, broadcaster, of course, but also the tech teams, who will be collaborating with international production and staging crews”. Emphasising the opportunities a participation gives even further, he characterised the contest as following: ”[…]a unique showcase for our music scene and the national final will give our local talents an unmatched opportunity to shine internationally.”

And those who think a Luxembourgish comeback will be a one-off, can rest very assured!
Dave Gloesener exclaims:

We aim to do very well at the Eurovision Song Contest next year, and to turn a new Eurovision page for Luxembourg. This is not a one-shot thing!
