Vidbir 2024 promises a new surprise for the world

Suspilne, Ukraine’s Eurovision broadcaster, has announced that it received 389 applications for Vidbir 2024!

Of the 389 applications received:

  • 288 different artists put forward a submission
  • 222 of them are solo artists
  • 337 were complete songs
  • 15% of artists submitted more than one application
  • 57.5% are in Ukrainian
  • 33% are in English
  • 9% are bilingual (Ukrainians/English) with 0.5% in other languages

Dmytro Shurov (a.k.a. Pianoboy) is the producer for the upcoming edition of Vidbir and had this to say about the submissions:

“Ukrainians, thank you for each of the 389 applications! I can already say that among them there are at least ten potential hits, several interesting comebacks, and something new that, I hope, will surprise us and the whole world. I am grateful to all musicians, producers, arrangers and authors for their efforts and soul. I know how difficult it is psychologically to be creative now, but I am proud that artists do not give up in their work […] Vidbir, as always, will create new Ukrainian music, will give a feel of what those who walk on the edge of modern pop culture and are desperately looking for themselves in this turbulent world are living now. […] time flies, and you and I will very soon start choosing our star for Eurovision 2024!”

Vidbir 2024’s longlist will include no more than 20 artists. To make it to the televised show, the artists must pass an audition, where no more than 10 finalists will be selected.

Artists not chosen in the final 10 from the auditions phase might get another chance, as the public will get the opportunity to save one of the cut artists and send them to the Final!

The Final of Vidbir 2024 is scheduled for broadcast in February 2024, with the winner chosen by a mixture of jury and televote.

Tvorchi were victorious in Vidbir 2023 and represented Ukraine in Liverpool where Heart of Steel came in 6th place in the Final with 243 points!
