Semi Final allocation draw to take place on the 30th of January

SVT, the host broadbaster of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest together with the EBU have just announced that the semi final allocation draw is going to take place live from Malmö on the 30th of January, starting at 19:00 CET.

As we all know, the Semi Final allocation draw is held to decide which country is going to perform, and vote in which of the two semi finals of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. This year’s allocation draw is going to be hosted by Pernilla Månsson Colt, who oversaw the allocation draw back in 2013 too, and Farah Abadi, who co-hosted the Swedish Melodifestivalen in 2022 and 2023.

Pernilla said:

It will be great fun to kick off Sweden’s Eurovision year from Malmö, and The Draw can be more important than you might think for the competition later!

Farah added:

This is the kick-off for Eurovision and it’s extra fun to be able to do the program together with Pernilla, particularly as it’s in our hometown Malmö!

The Big Five (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom), as well as the host country (Sweden) have automatically qualified for the Grand Final, however as always, a draw will be held to determine which Semi Final the viewers in those countries can vote in. At the moment 37 countries are confirmed to take part in Eurovision 2024 (with Romania still being under a question mark as country number 38).
