CHAiLD: “Building a world around your music is so important to me”.

This weekend Luxembourg will choose who will represent them at the 2024 song contest, this will mark the first time that Luxembourg are competing in the competition since 1993!

We caught up with CHAiLD, who is hoping to represent Luxembourg with his song “Hold on”

Thanks for joining us CHAiLD as we look forward to Luxembourg’s return to the contest!

How exciting is it to have Luxembourg back competing at Eurovision and with a huge national selection show?!

It’s literally insane haha such an historic moment to be part of nd we realise it eevry single day, especially during rehearsals. Seeing the whole show manifesting itself into existence is soooo wild.

What made you want to take part in the selection process, have you been a fan of Eurovision growing up?

I’ve always been a fan of Eurovision. It’s always been something I wanted to be part of, even though it didn’t existed in my country. I always told my mom: one day I’ll be part of this, I don’t know how, or when haha but I will. So when it got announced, I jumped on the occasion. I felt READY from the first moment haha.

Your music videos for your songs such as “Italo Daddy” and “Urgent Care” are very artistic and story-telling – do you come up with these concepts yourself and how important is it to you as an artist to create a whole theatre style performance rather than just a song for streaming?

Building a world around your music is so important to me. I’m really adamant on having a whole artistry package in my project. It’s never just a song, it’s a whole experience we are giving to people as artists. Especially nowadays, engaging in the visual side of it becomes more and more important (social media, reels etc)

What is your favourite song by another artist that you love singing the most?

I really love singing Born to die by Lana del Rey or Creep by Radiohead.

Away from music and performing, what do you enjoy doing?

It’s a hard one, because music is literally my whole life. But I really enjoy doing 3d modelling on Blender (super random haha)

What can we expect musically from you in the rest of 2024?

I’m working on the most personal and honest music I’ve ever written. I’m so excited for this year I literally can’t wait to share it with everyone!!

And finally…do you have any unusual talents that people would be surprised to hear about?

I can fall asleep everywhere, no matter the time or place, on command lol my friends hate me for this hahaha.

Many thanks CHAiLD, we wish you all the best for the performance in the national selection show and look forward to following your music in the future!

You can listen to CHAiLD’s song below and of course cast your vote in our poll for who you want to win the selection show and represent Luxembourg at the 2024 Contest in Sweden this May.
