Here is the fifth song of UMK24

The fifth song of this year’s Uuden musiikin kilpailu (UMK) is out. You can listen to the song ”No rules” by Windows95Man here:

Windows95Man is a stage name of DJ Teemu Keisteri, who was born in 1985 in Espoo, Finland. Keisteri’s DJ career started, when the home videos he downloaded on Youtube started to circulate around the world. One of those videos even ended up in a commercial aired during an NHL game.

According to YLE, in 2013 Keisteri made a DJ gig in the Flow Festival, and that gig brought the character known as Windows95Man to life. The character’s outfit consists of a pair of very cut-off shorts made by a friend of Keisteri and Windows95 t-shirt ordered online. After that, Windows95Man has performed for example at the New Year’s party of the city of Helsinki in 2022 and the opening act for the one and only Käärijä at the Helsinki Ice Hall. Many people may have also seen a Youtube video, where Windows95Man gets an entire planeload of passengers to lose control to Darude’s Sandstorm.

Keisteri is also known as a visual artist, and he has studied photographing. He has told that he realised during his studying years that he is more a visual artist than a photographer. As a visual artist Keisteri is best-known for the Ukkeli-character he created in 2008. Keisteri uses Ukkeli as an illustration in for example clothes, postcards and dishes. With the help of Ukkeli the artist handles cultural phenomenons and Finnish lifestyle with humor and often also uses himself as a topic. Keisteri is also known as a video artist and he has his own gallery called Kalleria in Helsinki.

At UMK24 Windows95Man releases his very first single, ”No Rules”. The title of the song refers to the artist’s motto, which can be seen not only in his music but in his other artistic productions as well.

The singer in ”No Rules” is Henri Piispanen. Keisteri tells YLE that the chorus of the song is so challenging that it was very hard to find a singer with enough technical skill to pull it off. Piispanen was the only one whose voice could go high enough

In my opinion, all Finns are a bit looney tunes deep inside, and I wanted to bring that out more. Now I can share my music with an even bigger audience as well as spread the joyous message of No Rules,  says Keisteri.

This is what the jury of UMK24 said about ”No Rules” by Windows95Man:

Known until now as the ultimate party DJ, Windows95man is releasing his first own song in UMK. Nostalgic Eurodance influences and fast tempos are on the rise all over the world and No Rules offers both in a fabulous package. The song has the same irresistible exuberance and unique energy which Windows95man has used to captivate people all over Finland and the world.
