Ireland’s Eurosong 2024 to take place on 26th January

More news has just come out of Ireland courtesy of Éirevision: the 2024 edition of Eurosong will take place during The Late Late Show on RTÉ One on Friday 26th January, beginning at 9:35pm GMT / 10:35pm CET.

It’s also been revealed that the six competing artists, and their songs, will be released day-by-day next week, from 8th to 12th January, on The Ray d’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 (3pm-4:30pm GMT / 4pm-5:30pm CET). Two acts will be revealed on Wednesday, with one on every other day.

The Late Late Show Eurosong Special has been used as a regular format for selecting Ireland’s Eurovision representative, first from 2010 to 2015, before being resurrected in 2022 after years of internal selections. Last year’s show was a source of much hilarity for the fanbase due to an exciting peanut butter giveaway among the studio audience during the show.

This will be the first year comedian Patrick Kielty will take the reigns as host, after long-standing host Ryan Tubridy announced last year he’d step down from his role on The Late Late Show following a pay scandal at RTÉ.

Whoever the six artists are revealed to be, Ireland has a point to prove at Eurovision, having failed to qualify for the final on eight of the last 10 occasions. Last year’s Eurosong winners, Wild Youth, continued this legacy, only mustering 12th place in the first semi-final with We Are One.
