The Final of Festival da Canção to take place on the 9th of March

After revealing the split of composers per semi finals a couple of weeks ago, the Portuguese national broadcaster RTP has now confirmed the dates of celebrating the 2024 edition of their national selection Festival da Canção. The two semi finals will be held on the 24th of February and the 2nd of March, whilst we’ll find out who will represent Portugal in Eurovision 2024 in the Grand Final on the 9th of March.

The names of the acts, as well as their song titles will be revealed in less than a week from today – on the 18th of January at 12:10 Portuguese time (13:10 CET) via their official Tiktok channel. Until now, we know in which semi final each of the composers of the competing songs will be competing:

Semi Final 1 (Feb 24)

  • Joao Borsch
  • Mela
  • Mila Dores
  • Nena
  • Noble
  • Perpetua
  • Rita Rocha

Semi Final 2 (Mar 2)

  • Buba Espinho
  • Cristina Clara
  • Filipa
  • Huca
  • Joao Couto
  • Leo Middea
  • Maria Joao
  • No Maka
  • Rita Onofre
  • Silk Nobre

Mimicat won last year’s edition of Festival da Canção and went on to represent Portugal in Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. She finished in 23rd place in the Grand Final with her song “Ai coração”. Check out her performance from Liverpool once again, right here below:
