Olly Alexander to perform ‘Dizzy’ at Eurovision 2024

Last December it was revealed that Olly Alexander, will be the one to represent United Kingdom at the stage of Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö. Today, the singer has revealed on his social media that “Dizzy” will be the name of his entry for the contest and that the release date for it is 1st of March. This will be the first single since Olly became a solo artist.

 

Last night a teaser trailer has been released on Olly’s social media featuring BBC Eurovision as well as BBC Radio 1 & 2. The trailer showcases Olly as a trainee weatherman, warning of “dizzy” spells coming from Sweden to the island and it is expected that their effect becomes visible in the coming weeks. In addition to that the video includes four temperature numbers for which is believed to be hints about the song release. The numbers were: 11, 1, 29 and 7. As Alexander revealed the 1 stands for 1st of March and are the remaining three hints for something else remains to be seen.

Oliver Alexander Thornton, known as Olly Alexander is a 33 years old musician who made his breakthrough as the lead singer of Years & Years back in 2015, they released three studio albums out of which two ended as #1 at UK Albums chart. Alexander is also an actor, he performed in musicals but the role in TV show “It’s a Sin”, got him a nomination for a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television and the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor In 2021.

Last year UK was represented by Mae Muller who scored 24 points and ended the contest as 25th in the final. Olly will try to improve that result in the grand final of Eurovision 2024 which is set to take place on the 11th of May.
