Deadline extension in Iceland!

The Icelandic national broadcast RUV, have extended their search for the next Icelandic Eurovision entry! The song submission supposed to end last night, but they will now be accepting songs until the 27th of October.

The deadline extension is the second change in the run to Songvakeppnin 2015 (the Icelandic national selection). The first one was dropping off the original “BETA” rule saying that at least 50% of the selected songs will have to have a female songwriter, when RUV received many complaints regarding this rule.

The winner of Songvakeppnin, and the Icelandic Eurovision entrant for Vienna, is going to be selected by a mix of 50% televoting, and 50% jury votes. Iceland’s best result in the Eurovision history is second place, with Selma’s “All Out Of Luck” from 1999, and Yohanna’s “Is It True?” from 2009. Earlier this year, Pollaponk came 15th in Copenhagen. Who will be their successor?
