Kayahan Dies At The Age Of 66

The 1990 Turkish entrant Kayahan Açar has died of multiple organ dysfunction sydrome earlier today. It’s known that he had been suffering from small-cell lung cancer for years before his death.

Kayahan (full name Kayahan Açar), is one of the most famous and successful male Turkish pop singers of all time. He was an accomplished composer, consistently ranking among the best-selling Turkish musicians of all time. Kayahan composed all of his own material and has released more than eight best-selling albums during a career spanning 30 years.

He represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1990 in Zagreb with the song Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim (Captive In Your Eyes), which became 17th with 21 points.

A few weeks ago a respect concert was organised for him, and he sang his most loved songs and eventually said goodbye to his fans.
