Lisa Angell gives advice on who France should pick for 2016

This year’s French tricolore representative at the Eurovision Song Contest – Lisa Angell – admits to have “shed some tears” on 23rd May, after she finished 25th of 27 participants in the grand final.

In yesterday’s show Village départ hosted by Laurent Luyat on France 3, the singer reiterated her disappointment by her bad result. Lisa said:

I truly didn’t expect that. After I let all that pressure off my shoulders and after I have shed some tears…I was very emotional.

In retrospect, the singer said that her participation at the Eurovision Song Contest was a “great adventure.” She also took the opportunity to give advice in who France should choose as the country’s next candidate.

Since we went with a slow song this year, for next year we need to send something more catchy, perhaps a younger singer, younger than me, and someone who dances.

Despite many criticisms Lisa’s song “N’oubliez pas” received in her native country, amongst whom Laurent Fabius, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lisa explained that the difficulty for the French selection team lies not so much in the artist and the song, but in the understanding of the people’s taste in music across the continent.
