Attention 2: ”Our song is about finding your own strengths.”

Attention 2, from Finland, will participate in the second semi-final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, with their entry ”Ready for The Show”. They will compete, alongside 5 other acts, with the hope of qualifying for the Final and getting one step closer to obtaining the golden ticket to represent their country, in Stockholm.

They took the time to talk to ESCBubble about their entry and their forthcoming participation in the Finnish national selection for Eurovision:

What was your first reaction when you were told that you had qualified for the Finnish national selection for Eurovision?

We were REALLY excited and it was just unbelievable like a dream. We’re still feeling the same every time we rehearse.

Is there a message behind your song?

Yes there is. The song is about changing negative things to positive things and going after something important. It’s also a song about valuing your imperfections and finding your own strengths.

Could you tell us a bit more about yourselves and your musical careers?

We’re 16 years old twins..well that you can probably tell but we are big fans of the Eurovision Song Contest and we’re also really energetic, care-free and positive girls. We’ve been performing in multiple musicals together but Attention 2 was born last year.

Do you have any special ideas for your live performance during the national selection (choreography, dress,…)?

We have something special coming in our live show this weekend as well so you have to watch that to find out 😉 But we’re gonna bring something even bigger and special to ESC if we’ll go there.

Do you have other plans for 2016?

Definitely making new music and growing as a duet. Hopefully we’ll get to perform a lot and maybe even go to another country to do a show there.

Do you have any goals for the contest?

Go to the Eurovision Song Contest obviously would be the number one goal to us but also we want people to know Attention 2 and enjoy our music.

Why and how did you decide to enter the contest?

We’ve always wanted to go to ESC so this year since we’re old enough to apply to UMK and ESC we did. We just had the awesome opportunity to find the right songwriters because they’re also our friends. They made a song, we fell in love with it and the rest is history.

Are you a Eurovision fans? What are your favourite Eurovision songs?

Yes we’re huge fans of ESC and that’s why it’s so hard to pick our favorite song.

What do you think of the previous Finnish participants in Eurovision?

Finland definitely brings something new and different to Eurovision every year. Our favorites are probably Softengine, Lordi and Krista Sigfrieds.

What would you like to say to your fans who are going to support you during the national selection?

Thank you so much for your support and positive comments. They mean the world to us and makes us want to do this every day.

We wanted to get to know Attention 2 a little better, we asked them what their favourite … was:

  • Song: We have so many favorite songs at the moment.
    • Anni: I can’t choose! I have too many favourite songs at the moment 😀 but I really like YOUTH by Troye Sivan. (Anni)
    • Nina: I think my favorite one right now is Victorious by Panic! At The Disco.
  • Artist: We have so many favorite artists as well! But we love One direction, Sam Smith, Troye Sivan, Tom Odell, James Bay, Beyoncé, Little mix, Spice girls, Coldplay and SO MANY OTHERS!

  • Dish
    • Nina: My favourite dish is pizza.
    • Anni: My favourite food is chinese or indian food. Everything that is spicy!
  • Book
    • Nina: My favourite book is Hobbit by J. R. R Tolkien.
    • Anni: My favourite book is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. It’s really sad but well written.

We would like to thank Attention 2 for taking the time to do this interview and we would like to wish them the best of luck for the show. Until the show you can listen to their song:
