Live – Israel’s “The Next Star” 2017

Tonight we take you through Israel’s “The Next Star for Eurovision” show where, at 2100 CET, four acts will compete for the much-coveted ticket to Kiev. The previous two winners of the show that we’ve seen at ESC – Hovi Star and Nadav Guedj have done well in the contest proper, scoring 14th and 9th place in the Grand Final respectively.

The show will be hosted by Yael Goldman and she’ll be assisted by Rotem Sela and Assi Azar.

The four acts competing tonight in The Next Star are:

  1. Julieta
  2. Beatbox Element
  3. Diana Golbi
  4. Imri Ziv

The panel of judges consist of Keren Peles, Harel Skaat, Assaf Amdursky, Statis and Ben El Tavori. Harel Skaat, as some of you may remember, represented Israel in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with “Milim” and will undoubtedly provide valuable knowledge to the successful contestant of tonight’s show.

Tonight’s final will play out in two rounds – the first round will feature two duels, where the winner of each proceeds to the final round. Then the judges will decide who among the two remaining non-qualifiers progresses to the final round. The final round will consist of a “Duel of Three” and the contestant that gains the largest percentage of the viewing public’s vote will win the ticket to Kiev.

Israel have won the contest three times before, with Izhar Cohen and the Alphabeta in 1978, again in 1979 with Gali Atari and Milk & Honey, and most recently in 1998 with Dana International’s “Diva.”

Kyle and Melissa will be blogging the entire show live, and you can watch the live stream here.
