What was your first reaction when you were told that you would compete in the Icelandic national selection for Eurovision 2017?

I was of course very happy and excited.

Why did you decide to enter the Icelandic national selection for Eurovision this year with your song “Nott (Tonight)”?

This song gave me a good vibe from the first time I heard it, so I was in no doubt.

How would you describe your song in a few words? Is there message behind your song?

I am trying to get attention from this girl on the dance floor, I think every guy and girl can con net to that. At least I did 🙂

Could you tell us a bit more about yourself and your musical career?

I’m 19 years old, from a small town in Iceland called, Grundarfjörður. I’ve been around music my whole life, my dad is a drummer and plays the Tuba. My mom on the other hand is a singer, she used to have these singing courses in my hometown, and there is where I fell in love with singing. I recently graduated from the Complete Vocal Institution in Copenhagen. At 14, I won the first annual Icelandic singing contest Jólastjarnan (E. Christmas Star) granting me the opportunity to sing at Bo Halldorsson’s annual Christmas concert. Television station Stöð 2 and radio station Bylgjan have hosted the contest since it’s beginning in 2011 and introduced young talents from around Iceland. I started my solo carrier at 18 years of age, I am very R&B influenced. I released my first single that summer called “I Need U” in cooperation with the producer and friend, Logi Pedro.

Do you have other plans for 2017?

2017 is my year. Music is my main goal this year and spending quality time with my girlfriend, family and friends. Basically just doing what I love to do.

Do you have any goals for the national final this year?

I’m just show the people that I was born to do this, and give them a great show! 🙂

What would it mean for you to get the chance to represent your country in Kyiv?

It would mean a lot to me, to represent my beautiful Iceland would mean the world to me and i would do pride and honour.

Are you a Eurovision fan? What are your favourite Eurovision songs?

In Iceland it is not possible to not follow up with Eurovision so i have done that ever since i remember. My favourite song is “In my dreams” by Wig Wam (Norway 2005).

What do you think of the previous Icelandic participants in Eurovision?

I am of course proud of them. Iceland puts a lot of ambition in Eurovision and it shows always.

Do you have any special ideas (ex: dancers, choreography…) for your live performance during the national selection?

I will have dancers and backing vocals on the stage with me. But people will just have to wait and see, can’t tell to much.

Do you have musical inspirations?
