84 songs submitted in Belarus for Eurovision 2016!

Belarus’ national brodacaster TVR informed that a total of 84 songs have been received for their national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. This is a decrease of 25%, as for the 2015 edition of Eurofest more than 110 songs were received.

A “hearing” will be organized tomorrow (26th of November), where a special jury made of music industry professionals in Belarus will listen to live performances of all the submitted songs. The hearing will be broadcast live on the website of the Belarusian national television, tvr.by.

Among the artists who submitted their songs for this national selection, we find names like Janet, Vitaliy Kapranov, Valeriya Sadovskaya, band Chistiy Golos, Alexander Soloduha, Alexey Gross, Yan Maers, Napoli, Provokatsiya, Zombie band, Aura and others. The special jury will select no more than 15 songs, which will then enter the national final. One of the members of the jury will be Alyona Lanskaya, the Belarusian entrant in Eurovision 2013, who finished 16th in the Grand Final with “Solayoh”.

The winner, and the next Belarusian entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen by televoting only. The last time the winner in Belarus was selected by televoting only was in 2009, when Petr Elfimov won with “Eyes That Never Lie”.
