Valters Fridenbergs dies at the age of 30

Valters Fridenbergs,one half of the duo Walters & Kazha who represented Latvia in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, died this morning at the age of 30.

Valters Friedenberg was diagnosed with cancer back in 2016. After He receiving several chemotherapy courses and surgeries in Latvia, in the summer of last year the disease returned, so a decision was taken to continue treatment at the Sharithe Clinic. During spring, he was subjected to a severe operation, during which the remaining cancer cells were removed from his lungs. This morning, he lost the battle with cancer.

Valters was born in 1987 in Riga. At the age of two, he began his career in a Latvian Radio children’s vocal ensemble “Dzeguzīte”, but became more widely known as a member of the “Putnu balle” group. In 2005, together with Kazha, he represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “The War Is Not Over”, and finished in fifth place. In 2011, he became the vocalist of the band “Darkness”.
