Supernova 2019: More Names Revealed

The shortlist for Latvia’s Eurovision selection process, Supernova, is expected to be revealed in full on Monday 26th November. But in advance of the official reveal, we have already discovered a few of the artists that are expected to be in that list, including some returning fan favourites!

Yesterday we shared that Monta Kimene would be coming back to Supernova, as confirmed on her own social media pages; and that a return from Markus Riva is also highly likely.

Since then LTV have released some further teasers on their official facebook page, appearing to confirm Samanta Tina, Double Faced Eels and Dzili Violets in the list. In addition to this, we have also noticed Edgars Kreilis confirming his participation on his facebook page.

Samanta Tina will be a very familiar name to followers of Latvian preselections, having submitted entries in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. And it appears that she is back once again for 2019! Here is a reminder of her 2014 submission ‘Stay’

The Double Faced Eels are a four-piece rock band from Riga, made up of Martins Gailitis, Eduards Veinbrants, Reinis Brigis and Pauls Kesteris. You can listen to their cover of Bebe Rexha’s ‘In The Name of Love’ here to get an idea of their sound…

The Dzili Violets are another four-piece rock band, made up of Nauris Brikmanis, Valters Osis, Viesturs Butans and Edgars Jercums. You can see them perform ‘Paldies Tet!’ here:

Edgars Kreilis competed in Supernova 2018 finishing in 6th place with ‘Younger Days’, he also participated in 2017 with ‘We Are Angles’ but failed to make it to the grand final.
