On Monday we told you about the 36 songs that TRM, the Moldovan Eurovision broadcaster, had shortlisted for its selection to decide which act should go to Rotterdam in May.
However since the list was published TRM have announced that they have decided to remove one act from the selection, and have also announced the details of when the acts will be auditioning live on Moldovan television.
Che-MD are OUT
TRM have announced that its Eurovision organising committee have decided that the entry ‘Adio’ by Che-MD breaches the rules of the competition. The group were set to participate in the selection for the fourth time, having previously taken part in 2016, 2018 and 2019, having finished dead last in each of the three previous finals they had already competed in.
The rules of the selection do not allow for the public interpretation of the entry before September 1st to make sure it complies with the EBU’s own rules. The committee had discovered the following about the song:
- That it was first performed by the band on 18th May 2019.
- That it was uploaded to their official YouTube channel on 26th May 2019.
Thus as the song was already both published and performed TRM have removed the song from the competition.
The group have reacted angrily in response, blaming Romanian Eurovision fans who had discovered the potential ineligibility of the song, and reporting their find via both Facebook and YouTube. They claim that the current version of ‘Adio ‘ is a completely different song both legally and technically than the one that had been played before. They finally state that because of this incident they are refusing to come back and participate for the next 10 years!

The live Auditions will be shown on TRM!
We’re also pleased to report that TRM also stated in the report we linked earlier that live auditions will take place on Saturday 1st February at 15.00. You will be able to watch these on the TRM2 channel at the same time and it should be available online for the rest of the world to watch. It is not known yet however when the final decision will be made as to which act will be chosen to represent Moldova following the auditions.
