Vincent Bueno will represent Austria at Eurovision 2021!

After the Eurovision 2020 being cancelled many broadcasters started to inform the public if they will stick to their national selection or send the same artist next year but with a new song as it won’t be possible to enter with a song planned for this year.

Austrian hopeful Vincent Bueno joins the artists which we will see at the Eurovision stage as he will be the Austrian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with a new song that will be written in the coming months at a songwriting camp. The Program Director at ORF, Kathrin Zechner said: “We also believe in our artist Vincent Bueno for the replacement ESC 2021! We are convinced that he will perfectly represent Austria, the country of music, with a new song at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

I am incredibly happy that I can be there next year and thank the ORF for their trust. “And further:” When I heard about the cancellation, I first tried to think positively and the time saved with my family spend. Still, it felt like I just couldn’t complete something. It makes me happier those responsible at ORF give me the chance to complete this unfulfilled mission next year. “Alive” was already a strong number for me, and we set the bar very high. My goal is to surpass this for next year and we use the time to start with the best possible song for Austria in 2021.

Austrian broadcaster ORF is also planning to honour Eurovision by creating a replacement Eurovision in the form of a video contest. Their plan is to prepare three shows moderated by Andi Knoll which will be broadcasted starting from the 14th of April at 20:15 CET at ORF 1. The shows will continue at the 16th and 18th of April at the same time 20:15 CET at ORF 1. A special jury will rank the videos of the 41 songs which should take part at Eurovision 2020. After the third show the three jury winner videos will be announced. From that moment the audience will have the opportunity to choose their favourites and vote for the video winner of Eurovision 2020. Further details of the show are expected to be announced in the following days.
