Shock or Mock? ESCBubble reviews this year’s second Semi-Final artists’ outfits!

With the Turquoise Carpet and the first Semi-Final behind us, we are still waiting for the second Semi-Final which is set for tonight. And don’t you even think that the artists in the second Semi-Final let go of their outfits! (Well, at least some). Let’s see which fashion treasures and fashion crimes are hiding in this Semi-Final!

San Marino

Senhit will be wearing a combination of a deep cleavage top in black with some VERY present shoulders and sleeves as well as a pair of wide-leg trousers in grey.

Senhit, San Marino, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

I don’t really understand what is going on there. The whole thing is just too much all over the place for me. Don’t get me wrong. One can wear some very avant-garde clothes and still look good. This one is just not there. not even close.

Estonia

Uku chose a rather elegant look with a white shirt, a pair of black trousers and with an untied bowtie hung around his neck

Uku Suviste, Estonia, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

This outfit is simply a safe choice for literally any guy as you can’t really fail such combos. Nevertheless, it works great on Uku and I must say I personally like such type of outfits for myself as well

Czech Republic

Benny will be wearing an outfit consisting of black top and trousers paired with a jacket in yellow

Benny Cristo, Czech Republic, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

The outfit isn’t an award-winning one, neither it is memorable. But it seems to work just fine. We do have some worse outfits in this Semi-Final. And with a song like “Omaga” we cant expect Benny to wear something different than such a style.

Greece

Stefania will be wearing a sparkly jumpsuit in purple paired with high heeled boots in the same color

Stefania, Greece, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

For some reason, this outfit gave me a flashback to the 80’s I still find it very nice and it fits Stefania just right. I think this was a great choice for her. One thing we know for sure is that Stefania’s stylists know their job!

Austria

Vincent is one among few male artists to wear an all black outfit tonight. His outfit consists of a black shirt with a pair of trousers in the same colour. All this is covered by an embroidered jacket in black as well.

Vincent Bueno, Austria, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

I simply love it. Yes, it’s again a safe choice going all black but the twist of the embroider jacket simply takes the whole thing to a whole different level. Amazing choice!

Poland

For his performance, Rafal chose to wear an all-black suit with a black shirt underneath paired with a pair of fingerless black gloves.

RAFAŁ, Poland, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

Rafal does look very nice in this outfit. The gloves are a very nice twist to this rather classical look. Although a safe choice this doesn’t make the outfit less good than what it is.

Moldova

Natalia chose once again to wear a dress by top designer Zuhair Murad. This time she chose a mini dress in silver.

Natalia Gordienko, Moldova, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

When it comes to Zuhair Murad it’s a “Shock me like there’s no tomorrow” situation every single time! The outfit just says “PARTY” and it serves it very well on stage. Great choice indeed!

Iceland

Dadi and his band are all wearing sweaters in light blue with their drawings of their faces on them paired with dark long trousers.

Daði og Gagnamagnið, Iceland, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

This outfit has a thing. It’s a different type of custom made outfits as I doubt anyone having the very same sweater like Dadi or any other band member. Still, this doesn’t make it a shock as it still has a very childish part in it. Its a mock for me.

Serbia

The three members of the band Sanja, Ksenja and Ivana all wear black mini dresses by Demode paired with black high heeled boots.

Hurricane, Serbia, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

I think the choice is obvious as you cant do “Loco Loco” with an evening gown or almost any different type of outfit. This choice fits great for the girls. It’s a fun, flowing, easy-going outfit that is created for a party and nothing else.

Georgia

Tornike went completely casual with black tousers and a white shirt.

Tornike Kipiani, Georgia, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

It’s a bad outfit at all. It just seems like someone REALLY made 0 effort choosing the outfit. The outfit is ok but it doesn’t stand out. It could have been worse tho…

Albania

Anxhela will be wearing a bodysuit in silver with all the accessories sewn on it in silver as well

Anxhela Peristeri, Albania, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

The outfit fits Anxhela very much and I really liked it! A shock for me.

Portugal

All the of the band members went on an elegant look of suits in different colours

The Black Mamba, Portugal, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

The choice of outfits fits the song and the staging very much. I am very much of a fan of such looks so it’s a shock for me.

Bulgaria

Victoria is wearing a long buttoned shirt in light blue with trousers in the same colour

VICTORIA, Bulgaria, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

Honestly, this one wasn’t my favourite. it looked more like a pyjama set to me rather than something I’d go to Eurovision with. A mock all the way.

Finland

The members of the band went all black with shirts, T-shirts and tank-tops in black and trousers in the same colours

Blind Channel, Finland, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

It sticks to the rules, doesn’t really go beyond expected and even the twists in the outfits follow the rules and yet these outfits look great and are far from being monotonic and boring. Middle fingers up? I’d say hands down a shock kind of outfits for me!

Latvia

Samanta will be wearing a long dress in dark green with a cape decorated with stones op her shoulders.

Samanta Tīna, Latvia, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

It’s really in between this time. The dress looks very nice but then the cape kinda ruins it. It’s a yes for the dress and no for all the rest of it.

Switzerland

Gjon will be wearing a patterned shirt in black with a pair of wide trousers in black

Gjon’s Tears, Switzerland, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May 2021

Shock or Mock?

Let me put it this way. Gjon can sing very well. His stylist on the other hand needs a change as soon as this is possible and even before! Gjon looks like a teen trying to choose his own outfits after years his mom did it for him and like most first times this isn’t working that well!

Denmark

Although a duo, each of the members chose a different outfit. One outfit consists of Grey trousers paired with a white t-shirt and a purple blazer. The second consists of a turtle neck sweater paired with a long coat in silver and pants in shiny purple.

Fyr Og Flamme, Denmark, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 14 May

Shock or Mock?

Purple, silver, white… It simply doesn’t look good. I get the fact the duo is inspired by the 80’s but we all know that the 80’s fashion is simply not a good source of inspiration.
