Ireland selects Maiú Levi Lawlor for Junior Eurovision 2021!

Maiú Levi Lawlor has won the Irish national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and will represent his country in Paris. A professional jury panel selected the winner among three finalists, two girls and a boy.

The broadcast of the Irish national selection for Junior Eurovision has just come to an end revealing who will carry the flag for the country on December 19. After weeks of heats and the last week’s semifinal, only three candidates were still in the race for the ticket to the French capital:

  • Lilyella Buckley
  • Sophie Lennon
  • Maiú Levi Lawlor

As in previous editions and episodes, the winner was selected by a panel of judges made up of Gráinne Bleasdale, Chris Greene, and this week’s guest judge Linda Martin, after two voting rounds. At the beginning of the show, all three finalists performed two songs each, and the judges picked two super finalists: Lilyella Buckley and Maiú Levi Lawlor. The final voting decided the ultimate winner of the 2021 season of Junior Eurovision Éire.

Ireland is back to Junior Eurovision after a year of absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As in previous editions, all the shows of the national final, including the final, were recorded earlier this year and have been broadcast pre-recorded. That means the winner has already been working on the song for a few weeks.
