As a huge surprise, in the early hours of this morning, the representative for Azerbaijan this year at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin was announced! Nadir Rüstəmli is the name that was revealed by the Azeri broadcaster Ictimai! 

In his native country, the people know Nadir for being the winner of the most recent edition of The Voice of Azerbaijan, where he impressed with his versatile voice. And now he’s got the Eurovision song to travel with him to Italy as well!
Head of Delegation Isa Melikov said there were more than 300 entries submitted for the selection and continued:

As always we try to find beautiful and professional songs, no matter the genre. Staying true to ourselves, we will this year primarily pay attention to how it matches with the voice and the performing style of the singer.

Isa Melikov also gave us something to look forward to: the entry will be revealed in the second week of March!
