Norway: Arian Engebø and Staysman to host Melodi Grand Prix 2023

Norway just revealed the hosts of Melodi Grand Prix 2023, their national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in the United Kingdom. The show will be presented by Arian Engebø and Stian “Staysman” Thorbjørnsen.

Arian Engebø hosts the radio program “Studio P3” and during her latest broadcast, she got surprised when her co-host played a song by “Staysman”, which was about her. He then showed up in the studio and asked Arian if she wanted to host MGP with him. The radio host was excited and expressed her joy about the upcoming project:

I feel joy and excitement, and of course a little fear. We will be making TV for an extremely large number of people, and MGP is something many people have a strong relationship with. I have always been very happy with Melodi Grand Prix

Stian “Staysman” Thorbjørnsen is a Norwegian singer who might be familiar to some MGP fans, as he has taken part in the competition on two occasion. In MGP 2015, he performed the song “En godt stekt pizza” alongside Lazz and in 2021Alt det der” as part of Landeveiens Helter.

Thea Christine Flinder, project manager of MGP, explained the reason why these two presenters were chosen to host the event:

Two different profiles with different backgrounds, who have in common that they love music and MGP . We strongly believe that the two of them together will entertain the viewers and the artists with infectious enthusiasm, warmth and charm when MGP starts on 14 January

The most recent edition of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix was won by Subwoolfer with the song “Give That Wolf A Banana”. They qualified to the final and finished in 10th place with 182 points.
