Official presentation of Festival da Canção 2024 set for 18th of January
RTP will be presenting the further details about this years edition of Festival da Canção, next Thursday, 18th of January at a music club called Musibox in Lisbon.
The composers which are taking part at Festival da Canção 2024 have been revealed early November and the draw was announced at the end of last year. As Portuguese forums report it is expected that during this presentation we will get to know all of the competing acts of FdC 2024, the full author team behind each of them as well as the hosts of the show. The presentation is set to start at 12.30 CET. This year Festival da Canção marks its 60th anniversary.

The show will mark its 56 edition this year and out of those selections only two years (1970 and 2000) Portugal wasn’t taking part at Eurovision so the winner of Festival da Canção 2024 will become their 54th representative at the Eurovision Song Contest. Portugal didn’t take part at the contest in 2002, 2013 and 2016 while for their entries in 1988 and 2005 they went with the internal selection.
Last year Portugal was represented by Mimicat who performed “Ai Coração” at the stage in Liverpool. She ended the contest at 23rd place with 59 points.
