Leo Middea: “I arrived in Portugal the year Salvador Sobral won Eurovision”

Ahead of tomorrow’s second semi-final of Festival da Canção in Portugal, our very own Joe B got to catch up with Leo Middea, who’ll be attempting to earn his country’s ticket to Malmö with the song Doce mistério (“Sweet Mystery”). In this interview, Leo spoke of his journey from being a film student in Rio de Janeiro to a teenage recording artist travelling the world, as well as how he came to know Eurovision through a pivotal time for the Contest in his adopted home country, and his love of the music of Caetano Veloso, which inspired the title of his Bossa nova-inspired track.
