The voting system at Dora 2022 has been announced!

In December out of 184 songs which were received for Dora 2022, pre-selection jury chose 14 songs which will go on to compete. Last March it has been revealed that Dora will remain in Opatija in the upcoming years and today they also signed an additional contract which is referring to the Tourist Organisation of city Opatija becoming one of the co-organisers of the show in the period of three years – to 2024. The 14 acts competing in Dora 2022 were revealed in December and the running order has been announced a week ago in the TV Show “Kod nas doma”. In addition to that the news so far include that all of the competing entries will be available nine days before Dora 2022 as well as who are the hosts of the show. Dora is set to take place on 19th of February and today the voting system of the show has been revealed. The decision will be made by jury 50% of the votes and by the audience 50% also.

The jury

Juries from 10 different HRT centres/cities are going to evaluate all of the songs, and rank them from first to last, as it is the case in Eurovision. Based on their rankings, the top 10 in each of the HRT centres/cities are going to get points Eurovision style – from 1 to 12, meaning that 4 songs will remain with 0 points with each city. These 10 centres are:

  • Zagreb
  • Čakovec & Varaždin
  • Rijeka
  • Pula
  • Osijek
  • Zadar
  • Knin & Šibenik
  • Split
  • Dubrovnik
  • Vukovar

Each voting city will have three jurors – one will be a member of HRT (either music editors, or music journalists), one member from Croatia’s Composers’ Society, and one member from the Croatian Musicians Union.

Televoting

Televoting is going to open once all 14 songs have been performed, and in a 10 minute window, all viewers are going to be able to vote up to 10 times in total from one phone number – for one song only, or for multiple songs of their choice. Viewers in Croatia will be able to vote in one of the following ways:

  • by calling 065 22 44xx (xx represents the running order of the song they would want to vote for – from 01 to 14)
  • by texting Doraxx (xx represents the running order of the song they would want to vote for – from 01 to 14)

The points will be given out based on the percentage of votes each song has received. There will be a pool of 580 points to be given out (the same amount the juries are going to give out), so in case a song received 10% of the total vote – it will receive 58 points. The same voting system has been used in various national finals before – in Belgium, Sweden, Finland, etc…

The running order of Dora 2022 is as follows:

  1. Mila Elegović – Ljubav
  2. Mia Negovetić – Forgive Me (Oprosti)
