Ukraine has chosen the second pair of qualifiers who will go through to the Final of their National Selection on February 25th.
In a tense results show, the jury revealed their scores first and put Rozhden on the 1st place with 8 points and Illaria on the 2nd which gave her 7 points. When it was up to televoting Rozhden received only 5 points but it was enough to place 2nd overall. Illaria won the televoting so both acts who received the highest mark from each of the points sets qualified to the final show and will fight to represent Ukraine in their domestic Eurovision in May!
Jamala appraised Rozhden’s entry “Saturn” as the coolest song tonight and Konstantin Meladze even called the youngster as one of the most talented and promising singer in the country.
Andrey Danilko aka Verka Serduchka liked Illaria’s performance and song but he wasn’t sure if it would do well in Eurovision: “I’ll leave it to televoting” – and Ukrainian audience voted it as the best act tonight.
The final results were therefore as follows :
- Illaria – 15
- Rozhden – 13
- Detach (televoting 6)
- Panivalkova – 10 (televoting 4)
- Kuznetsov – 9
- Aghiazma – 7
- Mila nitich – 6
- Letay – 2
And with only 2 qualifying, we will see Illaria and Rozhden back on stage on February 25th
