Angeelia: ”Always follow your light, always stay true to yourself!”

Angeelia, from Estonia, will compete in the Estonian national selection for Eurovision 2017, with her song ”We ride with our flow”. She will compete alongside 9 other acts with the hope of winning her ticket for the Final of Eesti Laul 2017. She took the time to talk to ESCBubble about her new song and her participation in Eesti Laul this year:

What was your first reaction when you were told that you would compete in the Estonian national selection for Eurovision 2017?

I felt full of joy and peace at the same time, as I was really hoping to heart that!

Why did you decide to enter the Estonian national selection for Eurovision this year with your song ‘’We ride with our flow’’?

The process to enter went really naturally, although fast. Just about a week before the last date entering songs, me and Andres Kõpper together wrote and puzzled with the song until the last day. We were almost giving up at some point, because I don’t like to do these things over knee and too easily. But we found the missing parts and after the last polish we both felt the shine in it.

How would you describe your song in a few words? Is there message behind your song?

I have a message behind my every song. That’s the thing for me about music – It should heal, comfort, give you some joy or peace. Otherwise, without the “real thing” behind it, it is as dead. “We ride with our flow” tells to me and to us about following that light you have in – finding the flow we all have inside and learn to thrive with it. Each one has a certain role here to harmonize with. As the sun gives you light to breathe in for the life you came to live..

Could you tell us a bit more about yourself and your musical career?

One creative soul, who loves to express thyself through music, art and designing and for clearing the mind and soul go for a run and do yoga. Everyday hobbies also are cooking and photography. I am also a mother of an 6 year old daughter, so spending time with my family and friends are a big quality.

Do you have other plans for 2017?

I do. Plan is to make as much good music as possible.

Do you have any goals for the national final this year?

My goal is to speak into as many hearts as I can. And it’s ok, my music might not be for everyone, but I hope it will find more and more it’s people.

What would it mean for you to get the chance to represent your country in Kyiv?

It would be a great thing. I’d give my maximum for the chance to represent and introduce the music we have in here.

Are you a Eurovision fan? What are your favourite Eurovision songs?

I actually can’t say I’ve been that big fan who’s watched it every year, but I like the idea of Eurovision that brings all the music together from different countries all over the Europe and I feel that it gets better every year as there comes in more modern and alternative music, that really moves me. The most I appreciate the ones who come with their own music and put the spirit in it.

What do you think of the previous Estonian participants in Eurovision?

There has been a lot of amazing artists, but one of my favourite ones I can gladly say is my lifepartner Mick Pedaja (from last year). I truly admire him and his music, as also the touch we have together in it.. not just a coincidence, you know.

Do you have any special ideas (ex: dancers, choreography…) for your live performance during the national selection?

Yes, I do, but I’ll keep them as a surprise!

Do you have musical inspirations?

Many things inspire me. But mostly I get it from nature, human beings, the feelings we have inside and also the whole world around us is all one major inspiration..

What would you like to say to your fans who are going to support during the national selection?

Always follow your light! That means to stay true to yourself.. this leads you on the right path.

We would like to thank Angeelia for taking the time to do this interview and wish her the best of luck for the Estonian national selection.
