The Spanish Eurovision entrant will be chosen in Operacion Triunfo!

The Spanish national broadcaster, RTVE, has just announced that after looking for the best formula for Eurovision 2018, the Spanish act is going to be chosen in the talent show “Operacion Triunfo” (Star Academy) which started on the 23rd of October.

The talent show “Operacion Triunfo” was first organized in 2001, and was won by Rosa Lopez, who went on to represent Spain in Eurovision 2002 with her big hit “Europe’s Living A Celebration”. In the Contest in Tallinn, she finished in a respectable 7th place, and the viewing figures in Spain were never higher – 80%! Earlier this year, after a break of six years, RTVE is once again organizing Operacion Triunfo, and it already became the program that generates massive activity in all social networks. OT is a trending topic every day in Spain.

More information regarding the song selection are going to be released soon. The show got to its seventh gala, with 11 artists still being in the competition – Agoney Hernández, Aitana Ocaña, Alfred García, Amaia Romero, Ana Guerra, Luis Cepeda, Mireya Bravo, Miriam Rodríguez, Nerea Rodríguez, Raoul Vázquez, and Roi Méndez.

In all three occasions Spain chose their entry via Operacion Triunfo, they scored a top 10 result – with Rosa in 2002, Beth in 2003 and Ramon in 2004. Will this streak continue in 2018?
