The final six Finalists for The X Factor Malta have been chosen

On Sunday, TVM, the Maltese Eurovision broadcaster, chose the final six finalists for the live shows of the The X Factor Malta, with the winner going on to represent the country at Eurovision 2019.

The previous week at the judges houses stage, the first six finalists from ‘The Girls’ and ‘The Overs’ categories were chosen:

The Girls” (Judge: Howard Keith):

  • Michela Pace
  • Nicole Frendo
  • Kelsey Bellante

‘The Overs’ (Judge: Ray Mercieca):

  • Ben Purplle
  • Petra
  • Franklin Calleja

This week’s judges houses were used to finalise our last six contestants, with ‘The Boys’ and ‘The Groups’ being whittled down to three each.

‘The Boys’ (Judge: Ira Losco):

Owen Leuellen – ‘My Time’

Mark Anthony Bartolo – ‘Tears In Heaven’

Claudio Zammit – ‘We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off’

Luke Chappell – All I Want

Aidan Cassar – Slow Hands

Norbert Bondin – You Are The Reason

After the six excellent performances, judge and two time Eurovision entrant Ira had a tough decision to make with her guest Joseph Calleja. The lucky three to progress to live shows were:

  • Owen Leuellen
  • Norbert Bondin
  • Luke Chappell

‘The Groups’ (Judge: Alexandra Alden)

Xtreme – ‘Greedy’

Prism – ‘You Don’t Know’

Horizon – ‘All Of Me’

Kayati – ‘Toxic’

4th Line – ‘Don’t Let Go’

SYSTM12 – ‘Polaroid’

It was then time for Alexandra and her guest judge Carlo Bonaci to choose the final three finalists for next week’s first live show. The three who will be moving on are:

  • 4th Line
  • Kayati
  • Xtreme

Sunday begins the the start of the live shows, with the final 12 acts battling it out to make it through to the next week. Then on Saturday 26th January the live final will take place and we’ll know who is going to Tel Aviv to represent Malta!
