Omar: “It feels amazing. I can finally start doing my own thing”.

Ahead of tonight’s third Semi final of Melodifestivalen we caught up with Omar Rudberg who’s gonna be singing “Om om och om igen” which translates as “Over and Over again”.

Omar was born in Venezuela and took part in Talang 2010 (The Swedish version of Britain’s Got Talent). He was also in the band FO&O alongside Oscar Enestad and Felix Sandman. They took part in Melodifestivalen in 2017 with the song ‘Gotta thing about you’ which came 11th in the show.

Hi Omar. Congratulations on being chosen for the Melodifestivalen again. How did you get chosen this year?

I just think my record label Ten said some good things about me and Melodifestivalen liked my song so it was just a match baby!

You were previously in the band FO&O and together you took part in Melodifestivalen in 2017. How does it feel to be singing in the competiton again, but this time as a solo?

It feels amazing. I can finally start doing my own music and doing my own thing.

What are your plans for Melodifestivalen?

My plan is just to have fun, shake some hips and make people go crazy!

What is your song about?

It’s about a relationship that isn’t good for you and your parter, but you somehow still want to be with that person.

What style are you going for in your song?
It’s gonna be a Reggae/Pop kind of sound, with a bit of Latin.

How are you going to stage your song?
There’s gonna be a lot of dancing, hips shaking and some booty shaking too!

What language will you be singing the song in?
I’m gonna sing it in Spanish and Swedish

Has anyone helped you?
The other talented song writers of my label TEN Music Group have helped me and my team aswell. Also the amazing team behind my number with my fantastic dancers. There’s also my song coach! <3

Are you doing any other projects at the moment?
Yes, I actually have a lot of plans when it comes to the Latin American market and the US.

What’s been your favourite song at the Eurovision?
Probably Euphoria!
