Blas Cantó will represent Spain in Eurovision 2021!

Only moments after it was announced that the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest has been cancelled, RTVE the Spanish national broadcaster confirmed that they are going to be competing in next year’s event, and that their entrant is going to be – Blas Cantó!

The Spanish national broadcaster said that they were very thankful to Blas Cantó for all his dedication towards the Contest, and all of the hard work he had done in order to represent Spain in the best possible way, and as this year’s Contest is cancelled, they would like to invite him to be Spain’s entrant for 2021. Blas stated:

There is a huge commitment on my part to continue working on our entry for 2021, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to do so next year. There are a lot of things to do. We are going to carry Eurovision in style, it will be my flag, and we have time to do it and to make a good performance in 2021.

Blas also spoke out about the cancellation of this year’s Contest, as well as the Coronavirus spread:

All I want is for people to be together and stay at home so that this stops as soon as possible. Health comes first. We must prioritize ourselves. Because without us there is going to be no festival. Doing it without an audience was crazy because Eurovision is all the fans. Without them there is nothing. It was important to do it properly because Eurovision deserves to be given the importance that it has.

Blas Cantó was set to represent Spain this year with “Universo”. Give it a listen here:
