Vasil released a video for an autobiographical song ‘Mojata Ulica’

MRT (Macedonian Radio Television) decided to select their entry for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest internally once again. On 15th of January it was announced that their representative will be Vasil Garvanliev. Read more about it here.

However, due to the situation with Covid-19, 2020 Eurovision Song Contest was cancelled, and EBU released an official statement, which can be read here.

Vasil Garvaliev was working on his new album already, before MRT actually asked him to represent North Macedonia at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, so the preparations were put on hold. Until today, when Vasil surprised his new fans with a new song, called ‘Mojata Ulica’ (eng. My Street)

“It’s an autobiographical song of sorts that I wrote, and Igor wrote text to using my life journey as an inspiration. To capture the raw quality of message, Emotion, and song we decided to do it one take with live singing.”

Vasil also said:

“Video was filmed in an abandoned building back home. Wanted to use that as a metaphor of something that once was. Maybe not being there anymore but … in our memories, our first address … street, home , love .. whatever it may be … never leaves. I feel that with all of us stuck at home now being smart and safe. This is the ideal message and song, I was about to release it in January but I got asked to do Eurovision and put it on hold. We all have a “Mojata Ulica” whatever and wherever it may be.”

It’s not known yet, if Vasil will get another chance, to represent North Macedonia at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, but nevertheless, he’s been experiencing Eurovision stage already back in Tel Aviv, when he was backing vocalist for Tamara Todevska and her entry ‘Proud’, which brought the country back to the Grand Final after 7 long years, and won the jury vote.
