Chelcee Grimes for the UK?
The UK’s Smooth Radio with Jenni Falconer’s Breakfast Show was delivering its usual brand of easy listening this morning when just after 9am CET Jenni reported the hosts of Eurovision 2022 and then said “and we are going to be represented by Chelcee Grimes from Liverpool, she is a singer/songwriter, TV presenter and footballer”
Oops Jenni, this news isn’t official yet, although Chelcee had long been rumoured due to her ties with TaP Music (who are collaborating with the BBC for this year’s entry) and her appearance in the commentary team for the BBC at the semi-finals in Rotterdam in May.
Chelcee (29) is mainly known as a songwriter, having written for Kylie, Dua Lipa and BlackPink amongst others. Her ties to Eurovision have not only been with her commentary in 2021, as she co-wrote “Wonderland” for Roxen & Alexander Rybak in 2020.
The news was delivered in such a matter of fact style that it really seemed to be a worst-kept secret moment, however we await for official news from the BBC.
