Claes-Göran Hederström has died at the age of 77

Swedish artist and former Eurovision representative Claes-Göran Hederström has died at the age of 77. The sad news were verified for SVT by the family of Hederström.

Claes-Göran Hederström was born on October 20th 1945 in Danderyd, Sweden. He made is TV debut on the Swedish television in 1967 and won Melodifestivalen 1968 with his song Det börjar verka kärlek, banne mej. Hederström finished 5th in the Eurovision 1968 and the song became a big hit song in Sweden. According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet Hederström was ”The Mello-King” of the 50’s and the 60’s, since Det börjar verka kärlek, banne mej is the most played Melodifestivalen song of those two decades on Spotify. Hederström participated in Melodifestivalen again in 1973 with his song Historien on en vän, finishing 8th.

In 2020 Hederström said the following about his Eurovision entry in an interview by Newsner:

I still earn money with the song which is quite unbelievable. Everybody has memories of that song. Once I thought it was a little bit boring. When I perform it it takes about two minutes, and it is quite slight really.

According to SVT, Claes-Göran Hederström died at the night of October 8th 2022. At the time of his death the singer lived in Norrköping, Sweden.
