Greece cuts Eurovision 2023 shortlist to a final 3 songs
Here at ESCBubble, we’ve been following the Greek selection process for Eurovision 2023 since December. On Thursday, broadcaster ERT announced that there are three lucky songs left in contention to represent the Hellenic Republic in Liverpool this May.
The shortlist of seven songs has been cut to a final 3 (in bold):
-
- Klavdia – “Holy Water”
- Konstantina Iosifidou – “We Are Young“
- Leon Of Athens – “Somewhere To Go“
- Melissa Mantzoukis – “Liar”
- Maria Maragou & Antonia Kaouri – “Shout Out”
- Monika – “I’m Proud “
- Victor Vernicos – “What They Say”
In December, over 3,000 people applied to be part of a 70-member panel created by ERT to act as its demoscopic jury. This was a first for Greece’s Eurovision selection. This group was made up of fans of all ages and had 50.6% of the final say in choosing Greece’s representative.
The other 49.6% of the vote comes from a 7-member jury who got to meet with the artists and discuss their plans for song promotion and potential Eurovision staging.
At Eurovision 2022, Amanda Georgiadi Tenfjord was chosen to represent the Hellenic Republic with “Die Together”, and she achieved an impressive 8th place in the Grand Final in Turin!
