Malmö to welcome 37 countries in 2024

Preparations for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest are well underway and the EBU has just published the official list of the 37 countries who will travel to Malmö for the Semi Finals and Grand Final, set for the 7th, 9th, and 11th of May at the Malmö Arena.

While SVT made no announcement today regarding the 2024 edition’s theme art or hosts, we can confirm the 31 Semi Finalists heading to Malmö next May are:

🇮🇸 Iceland (RÚV)

The “Big Five” along with host country Sweden will bypass the Semi Finals and automatically compete in the Grand Final:

🇸🇪 Sweden (SVT)

🇬🇧 United Kingdom (BBC)

Only Romania is withdrawing, however talks are still ongoing with TVR about Romania’s participation. We’ll also have no new countries entering in 2024, while Luxembourg will take part for the first time since 1993!

While there was some speculation in the lead-up to today’s announcement, it is now confirmed that Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Montenegro will not return to the Contest in Malmö. All last competed in Turin in 2022.

Of note, today’s list was revealed 7 days earlier than the last time Malmö hosted in 2013. Back then, we got the confirmed list of countries on 12th December 2012!
