Eurovision teases a new ‘Caribbean’ element – but what is it?

In a cryptic post on the official Eurovision Instagram account today, a post was released teasing that ‘The Carribbean is coming to Eurovision 2024’.

What is meant exactly by this statement is unclear, but fans are already speculating that it could mean a Caribbean-themed sponsor, a debut from a Caribbean country, or perhaps even an entirely new song contest for countries in that region.

As for Caribbean national broadcasters that are associate members of the EBU (meaning they are eligible to compete in Eurovision, much like our Aussie friends), Cuba’s fits the bill. Might we see them be the first Caribbean country to make their debut? Who can say – but all will be revealed soon!

The full caption of the post reads:

‘NEW YEAR! NEW NEWS! We’re thrilled to confirm that THE CARIBBEAN is coming to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

Stay tuned, we can’t wait to tell you more.’
