Today, Hayley Evetts, who was selected to take part in Romania’s national selection Selecţia Naţională with the song Brand New Day, announced that she won’t be able to take part because of health reasons. Because of a knee injury, the doctor has adviced her not to sing or make any other serious physical efforts during the next 6 weeks.

”Since the rules of the competition don’t allow us to replace Hayley, we have no other choice than to retract our submission from the semi-final of României Eurovision 2016”, says Martyn Baylay, the British composer of the song. ”We would like to thank the selection committee of Eurovision România 2016 for giving our song Brand New Day this amazing chance and we feel very priviliged for having been invited to this year’s semi-finals.”

According to the rules, the ranking of the selection committee has been looked at again and a reserve entry has been found: Gaşca de acasă with the song ”Tu eşti povestea”. They’ll be competing in the semi-final on March 4th, hoping to qualify to the final on the 6th of March, both held in the sports hall of Baia Mare.
