Bambie Thug is the fifth Finalist of Ireland’s ‘Eurosong’

As we all know, Ireland’s RTÉ is once again hosting a national selection in order to find their entry for Eurovision. A total of six finalists have been selected to compete in this year’s “Eurosong” special of “The Late Late Show” on the 26th of January. Erica Cody with “Love Me Like I Do”, Ailsha with “Go Tobann”, JyellowL with “Judas”, as well as Isabella Kearney with the song “Let Me Be The Fire” have been announced in the past three days as the first four finalists of the Irish selection. Moments ago, RTÉ confirmed that joining all of them is Bambie Thug, with the song “Doomsday Blues”.

The music of Bambie Thug is described as electro-rap, confrontational performance art and effervescent, late-night goth pop. When talking about their song, Bambie Thug stated:

“Doomsday Blues” was the result of trying to create a song that shapeshifted through several genres but still worked and made sense. It’s why it transports you from alt witchy verses to killer screams, pop choruses, a jazzy middle-eight, before ending in a metallic roar of electro and heavy guitars. It perfectly showcases the different facets of me as an artist. I can be explosive and hard-hitting, but I can also be sweet and soulful.

I voiced my interest in ‘maybe one day’ applying for Eurovision, and my friends were so encouraging that I decided to run with it… and here we are.

“Doomsday Blues” was premierly played on The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1, and you can give it a listen right here:

The final entry for Ireland’s Eurosong is going to be announced tomorrow, so stay tuned to ESCBubble.
